GEOLOGICAL ORGANIZATIONS The following geological organizations have provided financial support to the UCPG by becoming Charter Member Organizations:
GEOLOGICAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR ADVOCACY The UCPG was formed as a council of individuals, companies, and organizations to advocate for the profession of geology in Utah. Several other sister councils exist in other states that already have or are trying to establish a licensure program. The local engineering community has a similar advocacy group called the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). In addition to the state organizations, some local and national organizations have also taken leadership roles in licensure/registration issues. These organizations include American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG), Association of Engineering Geologists (AEG), and American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). Below is an alphabetical listing of some organizations that advocate for professional registration/licensure that we know about today. Links to Related Sites
LEGISLATIVE ISSUES UCPG has established a relationship with professional lobbyists to assist us in the process of application for licensure as a profession and to submit legislation that benefits the profession of geology, as well as public health, safety, and welfare. Our lobbyists are Mr. Frank Pignanelli and Mr. Doug Foxley of Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough. Both men are attorneys and are well equipped to help us through the political process. They have given UCPG advice and assistance to organize the UCPG as a trade organization, and have provided input to our presentations with the Occupational and Professional Licensing Review Committee.
