***Date Revised April 9, 2003*** Next Meeting time posted below UCPG is working on the following issues: * Watchdog providing oversight of the Utah Professional Geologist Licensing Board. We attend each meeting, communicate important issues to our members, and will write an annual report. This kind of oversight and documentation is important to be sure that the legislation is properly implemented and can be defended in a sunset review. * Monitor the Utah Legislature for issues that can affect our practice as professional geologists so that we are not blindsided by legilation. Lobby the legislature when necessary. * Provide input to proposed changes to existing legislation, such as suggested wording changes that affect petroleum and economic geologists. * Communicate with and monitor State and Local agencies to ensure that the Professional Geologist Licensing Act is understood, recognized and properly implemented in policy and regulations. * Help geologists to interface with DOPL and the application process. * Sponsor short courses on professional practice and ethics - now that we are licensed, what does it mean? What do we stamp? * Sponsor exam preparation classes. *
